A well known, and apparently quite controversial politician, Frank Stronach, decided to give up his position in Austria's parliament. The announcement was found shocking, as just months ago Stronach had founded his own political party -Team Stronach. The billionaire formed Team Stronach because he wasn't satisfied with his government. He had some success too, with 10% in the opinion polls, and holding 11 of 183 seats in Austrian parliament with Team Stronach. After a few unappealing tv appearances, and disapproving ratings, the Austrian-Canadian has decided to step down.
I thought this was an interesting article because of how this man created his own, self named political party. To me it came off as arrogance. But, without really knowing the workings of Austrian politics, I can't judge. Maybe that is common there. I would like to know more about this man.
This, I found, was important to politics of Austria because of the publicity that Stronach has produced. It reminds me of third party groups in my own nation that occasional stir the controversy pot. Some times you need an underdog to get new political ideas and opinions out in the open.
